Young children may not always understand the world around them but they do begin telling an internal story about themselves, others and the world from a young age.

This resource is geared towards shaping the stories of young people who perceive that something is different in their home and begin to internalise stories such as ‘it’s my fault’ ‘it’s my responsibility’ or even ‘I’m unlovable’

In this story Layla learns that her mum has a mental illness called schizophrenia and the day-to-day experiences of this are explored in simple terms, leaving no room for shame to enter the story.

With included conversation prompts to facilitate follow up therapeutic conversations, this resource dispels myths, makes room for questions and curiosity, and fosters a sense of understanding and connection between parent and child.
