Interested in A School Art Workshop?
Here's what you need to know...
Lani visits schools (both primary and high school) to run workshops on a regular basis. Lani is flexible in her approach depending on the request of a school and specific needs of it's students.
Some ideas if you are thinking of booking Lani to come for a visit!
-One-off workshops can be an effective introduction to making art and be an encouragement to students that they CAN pursue their interests and make art into an interesting career path
-Every student who participates in a workshop is gifted with one of Lani's artworks as a postcard and encouraged to stick it up somewhere at home as a reminder to pick up a pencil or pen and make!
-Regular workshops (weekly or fortnightly) can be highly effective as Lani has the opportunity to build a strong rapport and get to know the students to build their self-esteem, encourage them regularly in their artistic expression and tailor workshops more specifically. Lani loves to spend time with each student during workshops (depending on the number of participants) to help them come up with ideas or just to affirm them.
Lani also offers a school option that doesn't include interactive art making. This can be effective to address a large number of students (Addressing a school assembly, for example, would be a good use of this option) and discuss art making, the role art can have in creating a positive mindset and as a 'de-stressor', as well as sharing some of her own journey through school/ friendships/ art/ mental health. (Again, these topics are flexible- Lani can address bullying, self esteem or identity and is open to work with the needs of your specific community!)
Lani also visits other community groups, so if you are not located at a school but interested in a workshop, head to the contact header to enquire further about workshop options!
